Arts & THE ECONOMY

We recently had a visit from Randy Cohen (Vice President of Research and Policy for Americans for the Arts), who explained the positive economic impact our arts organizations have on Missoula's economy. In addition to being an eye opener to the economic importance of the arts, the information shared at his talk as well as the Arts & Economic Prosperity report (found above) can serve as tool for arts advocacy. For pointers on how to use this and other information provided by Americans for the Arts when advocating for your art organization click here.

As of January 2012, Missoula County is home to 366 arts-related businesses that employ 1,331 people. That accounts for 3.85% of the 9,505 total businesses located in Missoula County, proving that the arts are a real force in our local economy. For more information, maps and to find out how your organization can be included in studies such as Arts & Economic Prosperity, click here.
